Chemical Reaction of Fly Ash

چکیده

In a previous paper, Brouwers and Van Eijk [1] presented a theoretical study on the dissolution (reaction) of pulverised powder coal fly ash. This fly ash was modelled as hollow spheres, and a shrinking core model was derived for these hollow spheres that contain two regions (an outer hull and an inner region). The obtained analytical equations were applied to the dissolution experiments by Pietersen [2, 3], yielding reaction rates at various temperatures and pH for two class F fly ashes. Based on the observed trends, in the present paper a reaction mechanism is proposed for the glass phase which accounts for the oxide composition of the fly ash (and that is applicable to slags as well). Finally, using the reaction product, the following thermodynamic properties of the studied fly ashes are derived: the free energy, enthalpy and entropy of reaction. The values obtained are in line with those of known substances: silica and an aluminosilicate (2SiO2.Al2O3).

Adsorption of Cu(II) from Aqueous Solution on Fly Ash Based Linde F (K) Zeolite

The work focuses on the removing of Cu(II) from aqueous solution by Linde F(K) zeolite. The zeolite is synthesized from fly ash by hydrothermal process. The adsorption experiments discuss several factors including the optimal solution pH, zeolite dosage, adsorption temperature, adsorption kinetics and adsorption isotherm equation. The results show that, the optima...

Imidazolium Chloride Immobilized Fly Ash as a Heterogenized Organocatalyst for Esterification Reaction under Microwave Irradiation Heating

An efficient solventless one-pot procedure for the synthesis of imidazolium-based ionic liquid under microwave irradiation is described in which 1-methylimidazole was modified by organosilane (3-chloropropyl triethoxysilane). This ionic liquid 1-methyl-3-[(triethoxysilyl)propyl]imidazolium chloride (TMICl) is immobilized on Mechanically activated Fly Ash (MFA) by co-condensation method to d...

Competitive Adsorption of Cu, Ni, Pb, and Cd from Aqueous Solution Onto Fly Ash-Based Linde F(K) Zeolite

The reaction of fly ash with a KOH solution was used to synthesize Linde F(K) zeolite, following which Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy were used to characterize the crystalline material. The competitive adsorption of Cu, Ni, Pb, and Cd onto this zeolite was subsequently studied in quaternary solution systems. The results show that the metal removal rates gradually increase with incr...

Simultaneous degradation and adsorption of cyanide using modified fly ASH and TiO2/UV

Due to the present water shortage and environmental problems associated with industrial effluent, investigation of novel treatment technologies is an essential approach. Being a highly toxic chemical of asphyxiating characteristics, cyanide is seen as a major environmental pollutant in a wide range of industrial effluents. The present study aimed to address the adsorption and photocatalytic deg...

Synthesis of Oxazolone and Imidazolone Derivatives in Presence of H2O2 Promoted Fly Ash as a Novel and Efficient Catalyst

A new catalyst was prepared by promoting fly ash with hydrogen peroxide. The catalytic activity of H2O2 promoted fly ash (HPFA) was evaluated by synthesis 5(4H)-oxazolone and imidazolone derivatives under solvent free conditions. The possible mechanisms of synthesis reactions were also suggested. These proposed methods benefit in terms of low-cost catalyst, high yields, ease of workup, survival...

Effect of carbon black and fly ash co-fillers content on mechanical and thermal behaviors of styrene butadiene rubber compounds

Fly ash (FA) is produced as a waste byproduct during the burning process of coal in thermal power plants whose cost is primarily associated to cleaning and transportation. It possesses mechanical properties on account of its constituents like silica and alumina. The use of FA as filler in styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) was of researchers’ interest to reinforce and/or to reduce product cost. In ...
